Artist, Teacher
I’ve been creative all my life, mostly because of the circumstance of where and how I grew up.
Being poor, living with uncertainty, and learning to navigate life in a body that didn’t always cooperate. I found making things and dreaming of what can/could be has kept me going all my life.
And now seeing my aging relatives not coping well with nothing to do in their life, after leaving their work life and losing family and friends.
Born and raised in rural Appalachian Kentucky, I’ve built a multifaceted career blending science, creativity, and education. With a foundation in environmental and electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky, I spent years traveling and working with power companies across the East Coast and Southern United States, gaining hands-on experience in high-responsibility technical roles.
My passion for creativity led me to pursue further studies in art, graphic design, and botany, also becoming a Master Gardener. This transition from engineering to the arts shaped the next chapter of my journey—becoming a working fabric artist, traveling to art shows all along the East Coast, and creating a vibrant studio/gallery in Suffolk, Virginia that unfortunately was lost to a fire in 2010.
I’ve taught STEAM classes to elementary and middle school students in public schools as well as adults in Art Galleries and Museums, where I fuse art, science, and nature to inspire many students.
Today, I have a growing online teaching platform, YouTube channel, and digital workbooks where I help people reconnect with their creativity through self-care projects in art, gardening, cooking, home styling, and fashion.
